“Cover” Your loved ones with cheer
As the winter season is upon us, we at Block Brothers would like to take the opportunity to wish you all happy holidays and toast to your new year. May all the happiness fill your champagne flutes. We pride ourselves in assisting you to create a sophisticated and elegant home. Especially around this time, adding those unique touches will not only express who you are, but gives a welcoming and warm feeling to all that enter.
Each room can offer that special meaning. Your living spaces can be given a holiday glow by lighting candles. Candlesticks are not only great to give as gift, but placing them throughout the room completes that decorative detail. Nowadays, styles and sizes vary and they can also be part of a collection that includes bowls, frames and other accessories. Place candlesticks of various sizes with one or two matching pieces and you created a “grouping”. They can be a holiday or universal theme for a yearlong display.
Cheerful and sparkling tablescapes can make your holiday party. Use sequin and beaded table runners, placemats, and napkin rings in the metallic colors. Co-ordinate your tablecloths and napkins to match or spice it up with contrasting colors with the same tones and hues. This will light up your dining space. A great trick is to take an ornament and place one at each table setting as a napkin ring or just an added spark. You can also place several of them in a bowl with flowers for that incredible centerpiece. Even better, they are great take away gifts, too!
Remember, whatever you do, do it with cheer! Again, Happy Holidays to you and yours! May 2008 bring you great joy.
"Throw" Yourself Into Fall
Fall is here and it is time to create your space to express the seasonal change. So, how does one do that? Utilizing certain pieces from your linen closet will help you accomplish this goal. Think of accents then think of throws!
Throws are small in scale to blankets. They range from 50 X 60 to 58 X 80. Remember sizes do vary. Not only are they good to have when needing to keep warm during those cooler nights, but draped over a sofa, bed, chair, or any other place only enhances the space by the throws' texture and colors. One can fold numerous throws and place them on top of each other displaying them on a bench or end of bed.
Throws are woven cotton, wood, or cashmere detailed with or without fringe. They can be solid, plaid, smooth, and or nubby. The descriptions are endless. Just select the ones you like and continually add them to your home. Choose the colors of fall such as deep oranges, browns, golds, reds and or greens. There is nothing as comforting on a cool fall night as a cup of hot cider and a lovely throw. ENJOY!
Eco-Friendly Bedding
Eco-Friendly Bedding is everywhere, even when it comes to finer bed linens, according to Carolyn Bloch of Block Bros at Home. "Polyester fill in on the decline, partly because polyester is an oil derivative. The industry is embracing natural biodegradable fibers like wood pulp from managed forests."
In addition to being "green," these all-natural bed linens feel great against the skin and come in today's rich colors. You can turn your bed into a style showcase with deep chocolates and mochas, reds, oranges and sky blue colors. "It's a beautiful fabric, very easy to sleep with," Bloch promises.
Slumber comes even easier with goose down comforters and pillows rather than those with polyester fill. Sweet dreams. Your Earth friendliness has earned you a deep and untroubled sleep.
